We're Hiring!

Research Associate

ResVita Bio is an early-stage synthetic biology start-up spun out of UC Berkeley. We seek to build genetically engineered skin probiotics to treat chronic skin diseases. We have developed a platform for controlled colonization of the skin with engineered therapeutic bacteria and are applying this to multiple disease areas. The FDA has approved RVB-001 for the Rare Pediatric Disease Designation for Netherton Syndrome, a devastating skin condition that most severely affects children, and we are actively progressing programs in atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin diseases.

ResVita Bio is hiring a Research Associate who is eager to push the boundaries of synthetic biology and metabolic engineering to develop the next generation of bio-therapies to treat deadly and destructive skin diseases. This is an exciting, multi-disciplinary position branching the fields of synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, immunology, and dermatology. The Research Associate will work alongside experts in these fields to advance our platform to develop and test therapeutic strains for the treatment of skin diseases. Prior experience with genetic engineering or animal models is not required, only an openness to learn these skills.

At ResVita Bio, we believe a diverse workforce will help us achieve our mission to meaningfully change the outcome of many human diseases. Come and play an important role in the development and commercialization of a technology at the forefront of biology and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Performing procedures (such as DNA assembly and bacterial culturing) to produce prototypes of therapeutic microorganisms
  • Troubleshooting, assisting with protocol refinement, and proactively seeking out ways to boost productivity and automate procedures as necessary.
  • Work with immunologists to test designed strains in skin-damaged murine models
  • Working with scientists from across the company to carry out experiments
  • Carrying out laboratory support tasks, such as organizing supplies and preparing media

Key Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in molecular biology, microbiology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a related field
  • 1+ years of documented wet lab research experience, preferably familiar with bacterial culture and running cellular assays
  • Willingness to learn murine model skills and genetic engineering skills
  • Experience with data collection and analysis using relevant software such as Excel or GraphPad Prism
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for the caliber of their work; excellent communication skills; and the capacity to manage one's time and work independently
  • A team player with an openness to receiving and giving critical feedback.
  • Eagerness to work collaboratively on a team of experts while adapting to the fast-paced needs of an early-stage startup
